Linda O'Reilly

Dr. O’Reilly earned her Ph.D. in 2003 from University College Dublin, Ireland, where she studied inborn errors of Fatty Acid Metabolism. She completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Pittsburgh in 2012, where she investigated the role of Src kinases in embryonic development. From 2012 to 2016, she investigated the molecular mechanisms of childhood liver disease at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She joined the department’s teaching faculty in 2016.

Research Interests

Dr. O’Reilly’s scholarly interests center on the science of learning in higher education. Her teaching philosophy integrates evidence-based approaches, including game-based and team-based learning strategies, to foster student engagement and deepen conceptual understanding. She is also a committed advocate for Open Educational Resources (OER), working to expand equitable access to high-quality educational materials.
