Jessica Diaz

Jess Diaz is an NSF GRFP scholar studying how captive animal management and husbandry practices can influence health and welfare. She is deeply interested in conducting applied research in collaboration with conservation organizations. Jess is also trained in pedagogy through the Teaching Minor program, and is interested in a career which combines both research and teaching.

Previously, Jess was a lab manager at UCSD studying the impact of captivity on the gut microbiome. Before that, she studied the human infant gut microbiome as an undergrad at Harvard.
