Dr. Alexandra Gates has spent nearly a decade studying the ecology and molecular biology of plant-microbe interactions. After receiving her BS in biology in 2017, she began her graduate research with Dr. Sarah Lebeis at the University of Tennessee investigating plant root microbiome assembly mechanisms. After receiving her PhD in 2023, she began her postdoctoral training studying the molecular basis of microbiome-mediated pathogen protection with Dr. Cara Haney at the University of Pittsburgh. Outside of the lab, she enjoys baking sourdough bread and spending time with her cats.
