Professor emeritus Carl Partanen passes away

We are deeply saddened to announce that Carl Partanen, who joined that Department of Biological Sciences in 1961 and was department chair from 1963-1970 recently died.  Carl was a plant cytologist who was interested in chromosome behavior and worked for many years on plan tumors.  In 1987 Carl became professor emeritus but continued to teach the Economic Botany course in the department.
